MAKING ROCK FORMATIONS title image.
Every Warhammer tabletop could use a few more boulders or rock clusters for troops to hide behind. Creating rocky scenery has to be the simplest thing you can build when it comes to terrain. Below is one example of how to make some rocky terrain.

Cut a few rectangles or squares from insulation foam to various sizes.

Oh-so carefully (watch the fingers!), carve down a rectangle of foam with a box cutter.

With a bit of time and effort, you'll have a nice pile of shaped foam rock spires.

Arrange the rocks on an MDF hardboard base and affix them with wood glue.

Find a few real rocks from the street or garden and add them to the base with glue.

Thin-down wood glue and spread it over the base. Sprinkle some sand over the glue.

Behold: the finished rock cluster after a quick paint job. Add static grass to the piece as needed.
